Let \(k\) be a field, \(\ell\) be an odd rational prime number different from \(\text{char} (k)\) and \(r \in \mathbb N\) with \(r \mid (\ell -1)\). Within a fixed separable closure \(k_{\text{sep}}\) of \(k\), fix a cyclic field extension \(F/k\) with \(F \cap k(\zeta_{\ell}) = k\), such that there exists a Kummer theory by an \(r\)-dimensional algebraic torus defined over \(k\). This refers to previous results of the author [J. Number Theory 130, No. 3, 639--659 (2010; Zbl 1217.11101)]. The existence of such a Kummer theory requires rather strong conditions on \(r\) and \(\ell\), e.g. in \(\mathbb Q (\zeta_r)\) the prime \(\ell\) must split completely into principal prime ideals. Under this assumptions, it is proved that any extension field \(L/F\) such that \(L/k\) is metacyclic of order \(r\ell\) corresponds via the above mentioned Kummer theory to the torsion points of the torus. Furthermore, a former result by \textit{S. Nakano} and \textit{M. Sase} [Tokyo J. Math. 25, No. 1, 197--203 (2002; Zbl 1019.12002)] is derived from this new result.
