In a previous paper [Trans. Am. Math. Soc. 360, No. 5, 2467--2503 (2008; Zbl 1155.16018)], the author characterized Ext-finite directed hereditary abelian categories with Serre duality up to derived equivalence. The categories are supposed to be \(k\)-linear over an algebraically closed field \(k\). In the noetherian case, arbitrary Ext-finite hereditary abelian categories with Serre duality have been determined by \textit{I. Reiten} and \textit{M. Van den Bergh} [J. Am. Math. Soc. 15, No. 2, 295--366 (2002; Zbl 0991.18009)]. In this paper, uniserial hereditary abelian categories with Serre duality are characterized. In the directed case, they are categories of finitely and cofinitely presented modules over a locally discrete ordered set. Similarly, the remaining case leads to tubes with a ``long'' boundary, which are called ``big tubes''. The result can be viewed as a vast generalization of \textit{I. K. Amdal} and \textit{F. Ringdal}'s characterization of uniserial length categories [C. R. Acad. Sci., Paris, Sér. A 267, 85--87, 247--249 (1968; Zbl 0159.02201)].
