Let \(Z\) be a projective variety of general type. If the Albany map \(Z\rightarrow \mathrm{Alb}(Z)\) is generically finite, then \textit{J. A. Chen} and \textit{C. D. Hacon} [Math. Ann. 320, No. 2, 367--380 (2001; Zbl 1073.14507); Duke Math. J. 111, No. 1, 159--175 (2002; Zbl 1055.14010)] proved that, independently on the dimension of \(Z\), the \(n\)th pluricanonical system \(|\omega^{\otimes n}|\) yields a birational map for \(n\geq 6\), while, for varieties with positive Euler characteristic, the tricanonical linear system induces a birational map. Similar results were obtained by Pareschi and Popa as a consequence of their \(M\)-regularity theory. In this short paper, by using the \(M\)-regularity techniques due to \textit{G. Pareschi, M. Popa} [Pure Appl. Math. Q. 4, No. 3, 587--611 (2008; Zbl 1157.14026); J. Am. Math. Soc. 16, No. 2, 285--302 (2003; Zbl 1022.14012)], the author proves the following main result: If \(Z\) is a complex projective smooth variety of maximal Albanese dimension and general type, then \(|\omega^{\otimes 4}|\) induces a birational map.
