The author studies the a posteriori error analysis for a continuous space-time finite element method for a hyperbolic integro-differential equation. First, the author defines a weak form of the initial-boundary value problem considered and the corresponding dual problem. He formulates a continuous Galerkin method of degree one and presents a posteriori error representations from which he proves a weighted global a posteriori error estimate. A localized a posteriori error estimate is given.
