The authors study three prototypical systems for the shallow water theory: the two-component Camassa-Holm system, the modified two-component Camassa-Holm system, and the two-component Degasperis-Procesi system. They study initial boundary value problems on the half line subject to homogeneous Dirichlet boundary conditions. First, they prove local well-posedness of these systems in Besov spaces. Then they specify sufficient conditions on the initial data, which guarantee either global existence of solutions or blow up of strong solutions in a finite time. In the case of finite time singularities, the authors describe the precise blow-up scenario for breaking waves. Finally, global weak solutions are investigated for the systems of the two-component Camassa-Holm equations. The approach is based on the global extension of solutions on the half-line with homogeneous Dirichlet boundary conditions as odd functions defined on the infinite line. All three systems preserve the odd parity of the initial value in time. Therefore, the corresponding results about the two-component systems on an infinite line (which have been recently established in the literature) can be copied and pasted for the present case of the initial boundary value problem on a half line.
