Let \(G\) be a finite group and let \(\nu(G)\) denote the number of conjugacy classes of all non-normal subgroups of \(G\). The finite non-soluble groups \(G\) with small number \(\nu(G)\) are classified. Precisely, the main theorem claims that if \(G\) is a finite non-soluble group such that \(\nu(G)<14\), then \(G\cong\mathrm{PSL}(2,q)\) with \(q\in\{5,7,8\}\) or \(G\cong\mathrm{SL}(2,5)\). As a corollary, the author obtains that any finite group \(G\) with \(\nu(G)\leq 6\) is necessarily soluble. This result was already announced by \textit{C. Chen} and \textit{S. Chen} [Southeast Asian Bull. Math. 34, No. 4, 625-628 (2010; Zbl 1224.20048)], although the proof given there contains a number of gaps which are indicated (and consequently corrected) in the paper under review. Another consequence of the main theorem is that every finite group \(G\) with \(\nu(G)\in\{8,11,12\}\) is soluble.
