Let \(L\) be a Leibniz algebra and \(I = ([x,x], x\in L)\) be the ideal of \(L\) generated by all squares. Then \(I\) is the minimal ideal with the property that the quotient \(L/I\) is a Lie algebra. In the present paper the authors describe finite-dimensional Leibniz algebras \(L\) such that the quotient Lie algebra \(L/I\) is isomorphic to the simple Lie algebra \(sl_2\). They show that the number of non-isomorphic \(n\)-dimensional Leibniz algebras with this property is equal to the number of partitions of \(n\).
