The paper characterises contact semi-Riemannian manifolds with harmonic Reeb vector field \(\xi\) by the condition that \(\xi\) is a Ricci eigenvector. Then, the authors provide interesting examples and analyse some relevant geometric properties of such semi-Riemannian manifolds. In particular, they show that, under certain conditions, \(\xi\) yields a harmonic map and discuss the relation with contact Ricci solitons. Eventually, the paper studies the Lorentzian case.
