Mahler functions are analytic functions satisfying certain growth conditions, functional equations, and having Taylor series with coefficients in some fixed algebraic number field. This article establishes several new algebraic independence results for values of Mahler functions at algebraic arguments, extending previous results by \textit{K. Nishioka} [Tohoku Math. J. (2) 48, No. 1, 51--70 (1996; Zbl 0852.11036);Mahler functions and transcendence. Berlin: Springer (1996; Zbl 0876.11034)], \textit{K. K. Kubota} [Math. Ann. 227, 9--50 (1977; Zbl 0359.10030)], and the authors [Tsukuba J. Math. 34, No. 2, 255--264 (2010; Zbl 1218.11071)]. Most impressive are the constructions of infinite sequences of algebraically independent numbers like \[ \sum_{k=0}^{\infty} \frac{1}{3^{d^k}+ 2^{d^k}+1} \quad (d=2,3,4, \ldots) \] or \[ \prod_{k=0}^{\infty} \left( 1+ \frac{1}{L_{d^k}} \right) \quad (d=3,5,7, \ldots) \] for the Lucas numbers \(L_n\), and many other results about infinite sums of products involving recurrent sequences.
