The authors consider the approximation of functions supported on the d-dimensional unit cube by interpolating multilinear splines over a Cartesian grid. They then construct classes of functions with certain moduli of continuity (defined either component-wise or via \(\ell^p\) norm) of their derivatives dominated by a fixed continuous, non-decreasing, sub-additive function. They then characterize the approximation error when functions from these classes are approximated with the interpolating multilinear splines.
