Summary: We study the asymptotic behaviour of quasi-stationary solutions of a free boundary problem which had been discussed by \textit{H. Bueno} et al. [Nonlinearity 18, No. 4, 1629--1642 (2005; Zbl 1181.35023)]. Using a simpler method we prove that the quasi-steady solutions of the problem converge uniformly to the unique nontrivial steady solution.
