The authors study a particular case of complex Ginzburg-Landau equations which is used in modeling phenomena such as superconductivity, chemical turbulence, and fluid flows. Comparisons between the equation and nonlinear heat and Schrödinger equations were drawn, and their conditions for blow ups are discussed. The authors prove that, under certain conditions for parameters and a negative initial energy, the solution of the problem blows up in finite time. Proofs of the main results follow derivation of some energy identities and a global existence property.
