In this paper the authors study high-dimensional and/or spread-out and/or long-range percolation models at he critical point, and construct the infinite incipient cluster (IIC). Although no infinite cluster exists at criticality in high dimensions or in \(d=2\) ( and in fact is not expected to exist in any dimension), by conditioning and taking limits it can be possible to construct such an object, conditioned on a zero-probability event. Three constructions are presented here, and are shown to give the same result. One new one is similar to a two-dimensional construction, moreover the extension to long-range models is new. The method used is the lace expansion. Also various properties of he IIC are derived.
