In this paper, author studied a short description of the classical methods to obtain asymptotic expansions for integrals: Watson's lemma, Laplace's method, the saddle point method, and the method of stationary phase. He has compared the developments in the field of asymptotic analysis with \textit{N. G. de Bruijn}'s book [Asymptotic methods in analysis. Corr. reprint of the 3rd ed. New York: Dover Publications, Inc. (1981; Zbl 0556.41021)]. The author has claimed that the classical methods can be modified to deduce expansions that hold uniformly with respect to additional parameters. He has also given an overview of examples in which special functions, such as the complementary error function, Airy functions, and Bessel functions, are used as leading terms in the approximations in uniform asymptotic expansions.
