The paper presents a new method to prove a certain geometric-decay inequality for entries of inverses of B-spline Gram matrices. The first section is an introduction in the nature of the subject. The second section briefly presents some preliminaries: the Sherman-Morisson formula, B-spline functions and total positivity. In the third section, using the Sherman-Morisson formula, the author obtains an iterative expression for inverse matrices. He analyses the cases of tridiagonal and symmetric 5-banded matrices. The fourth section focuses on the case of piecewise linear continuous splines, obtaining geometric estimates for the entries of their Gram matrix inverse. In the fifth section, the author analyses the case of piecewise quadratic splines in order to get geometric estimates for the entries of their Gram matrix inverse.
