In this interesting paper, the authors consider the theoretical description of the expected distribution of the population is the ideal free distribution, where individuals locate themselves to optimize fitness. The authors start from a model proposed by Cosner. The model is based on a reaction-diffusion-advection equation with nonlinear diffusion, which is similar to a porous medium equation with additional advection and population growth terms. In this paper, the authors describe the biological interpretation of the results. In the appendix, the authors prove that the model is well-posed, they show the stability of the solutions and lastly they determine the stationary states.
