Matrices whose entries are quaternions are investigated. Since the entries are noncommutative, there exists an obstacle in the construction of multiplication of quaternion matrices and in the proofs of analogs of standard properties of matrix multiplication. The main result of the present paper is the following. A complex adjoint matrix of a quaternion matrix is defined. Using it, a determinant of a quaternion matrix is introduced.
