Based on the properties of weighted shift operators on a directed tree obtained in [\textit{Z. J. Jabłoński} et. al., Mem. Am. Math. Soc. 1017, 107 p. (20012; Zbl 1248.47033)], the author derives the Aluthge transform of a weighted shift on a directed tree. Then, the author constructs an example of a hyponormal operator whose Aluthge transform has trivial domain.
