The paper under review constructs categorifications of tensor products of arbitrary finite-dimensional simple \(\mathfrak{sl}_k\)-modules using the action of Lie-theoretically defined functors on certain subquotient categories of the BGG category \(\mathcal{O}\). It is shown that these categorifications are tensor product categorifications in the sense of \textit{I. Losev} and \textit{B. Webster} [Sel. Math., New Ser. 21, No. 2, 345--377 (2015; Zbl 1359.17013)]. This implies equivalence of categories between certain versions of category \(\mathcal{O}\) and Webster's tensor product categories. Connection to categorifications of tensor products of the natural representation of the Lie superalgebra \(\mathfrak{gl}(1| 1)\) is also discussed.
