The authors consider gradings on small categories enriched over \(k\)-vector spaces, where \(k\) is a field. Morphisms between such gradings are considered and used to define the fundamental grading group. It is proved that this group is isomorphic to the intrinsic fundamental group obtained by the authors in [Algebra Number Theory 4, No. 5, 625--648 (2010; Zbl 1207.16048)] and [Algebr. Represent. Theory 15, No. 4, 735--753 (2012; Zbl 1291.18027)] through Galois coverings and smash products. The theory is illustrated by several examples, including Schurian generated categories.
