Let \(\Omega\) be a bounded domain in \(\mathbb{R}^N\) (\(n \geq 2\)). The authors focus on a family of double-phase equations in the form: \[ -\mathrm{div \,} (|\nabla u|^{p-2}\nabla u +a(x) |\nabla u|^{q-2}\nabla u )=f(x,u,\nabla u) \mbox{ in }\Omega, \] where \(1<p\leq q < +\infty\) and \(0< a(x) \in C^1(\Omega)\). Further, the function \(f(x,y,z):\Omega\times \mathbb{R} \times \mathbb{R}^N \to \mathbb{R}\) fulfills suitable conditions. More precisely, the authors consider the case when \(f\) is uniformly continuous in \(\Omega\times \mathbb{R}\times \mathbb{R}^N\), decreasing in \(y\), Lipschitz continuous with respect to \(z\) and of appropriate growth. This way, the authors establish certain equivalences between weak and viscosity solutions in Theorem 1.1, provided that \(q/p \leq 1+1/N\). They also obtain the local Lipschitz continuity of viscosity solutions in Theorem 1.2, provided that \(p\leq q \leq p+1/2\). The strategy of proofs is based on the inf(sup)-convolution approximation methods and the Ishii-Lions methods, respectively. Finally, the authors show that weak solutions are viscosity solutions in Theorem 1.4, imposing the comparison principle stated in Definition 1.3.
