The study of the evolution of nonequilibrium systems is one of the most challenging problems in statistical mechanics, particularly the problem of the derivation of equations in terms of the relevant thermodynamical quantities for those systems. Among these challenges the evolution of random growing interfaces governed by local stochastic rules can be shown. This paper solves the problem of the computations of the non-universal constants in the Kardar-Parisi-Zhang (KPZ) equation in one dimension, in terms of the thermodynamical quantities associated to the underlying microscopic dynamics. Several works about properties of the KZP equation have been published; some of them give exact solutions. However, all of them have one special feature: the non-universal constants in the KPZ equation do not depend on the thermodynamical properties of the analyzed models. The authors show that this is not true in general and propose their own approach. The paper is divided into four sections. After the introduction, a presentation of the chosen model is given; this is the gradient Kawasaki dynamics. Section 3 describes this equilibrium fluctuation model in the setting of the KPZ scaling. The last section gives conclusions and future directions of research.
