The article deals with an elliptic partial differential equation problem with a jump in diffusion coefficients across the interface between the subdomains. The authors approximate the field of values of the two-Lagrange multiplier system matrix by a rectangle, \(R\), in \(\mathbb C\) and provide optimised Robin parameters that ensure \(R\) is ``well conditioned'' in the sense that the generalized minimal residual (GMRES) method converges quickly. The convergence estimates for GMRES are derived and the behaviour asymptotically as the mesh size \(h\) becomes small and the jump in coefficients becomes large is analysed. For the presented choice of Robin parameters, the increasing the jump in coefficients increases the convergence rate of GMRES. Numerical experiments are performed to verify the theoretical results.
