A finite group \(G\) is said to be a DAED-group (i.e., a group with divisibility among even degrees) if for any \(1<a<b\) in the set of even degrees of the complex irreducible characters of \(G\), \(a\) divides \(b\). In this note it is shown that any DAED-group admits precisely one nonabelian chief factor. Furthermore, it is shown that the factor is isomorphic to \(L_2(2^f)\) for some \(f\geq 2\). The author's motivation comes from a problem raised by \textit{L. Kazarin} and \textit{Y. Berkovich} in their paper [J. Algebra 220, No. 2, 574-590 (1999; Zbl 0942.20001)], which asked about the structure of the finite nonsolvable DAED-groups. The result depends on the classification of the finite simple groups as well as corresponding character values of complex irreducible representations. In regard to those, the paper does contain explicit lists of character values.
