In the paper under review, the authors study simple supercuspidal representations of the group \(\mathrm{GL}(n, F)\), where \(F\) denotes a non-Archimedean local field of characteristic zero with residual characteristic \(p\). We note that in this case the simple supercuspidal representations are those of depth \(\frac{1}{n}\). Firstly, the authors present a construction of the local Langlands correspondence for simple supercuspidal representations of \(\mathrm{GL}(n, F)\) in the case where \(p\) does not divide \(n\). Secondly, they prove Jacquet's conjecture on local convers problem for \(\mathrm{GL}(n,F)\) for simple supercuspidal representations, following the ideas of Jiang, Nien and Stevens [\textit{D. Jiang} et al., J. Eur. Math. Soc. (JEMS) 17, No. 4, 991--1007 (2015; Zbl 1330.11034)]. Thirdly, it is shown that the Reeder-Yu construction [\textit{M. Reeder} and \textit{J.-K. Yu}, J. Am. Math. Soc. 27, No. 2, 437--477 (2014; Zbl 1284.22011)] of a family of epipelagic supercuspidal representations for general connected reductive \(p\)-adic groups produces only simple supercuspidal representations in the case of \(\mathrm{GL}(n, F)\). Also, examples of non-simple epipelagic supercuspidal representations of \(\mathrm{GL}(n,F)\) are given.
