In this paper, the authors employ a general method to derive congruence properties for certain kinds of partition functions \(a(n)\) for which \(\sum_{n = 0}^{\infty} a(n) q^{n} \equiv (q;q)_{\infty}^{k}\mod{m}\), for integer \(k\) with \(1 \leq k \leq 24\), \(m = 2, 3\). The authors note that their approach can be extended to search for congruences for larger values of \(k\) and further values of \(m\). Four main theorems are initially established providing infinite families of congruences for \(a(n)\). Key to proving these theorems are modular equations of degrees 5 and 7. Mathematica code, included in an appendix, is used to support computations in the proofs. The authors utilize their theorems to derive many new infinite families of congruences for \(c \phi_{k}(n)\) and \(\overline{c \phi_{k}}(n)\), where \(c \phi_{k}(n)\) denotes the number of generalized Frobenius partitions of \(n\) with \(k\) colors [\textit{G. E. Andrews}, Mem. Am. Math. Soc. 301, 44 p. (1984; Zbl 0544.10010)] and \(\overline{c \phi_{k}}(n)\) is the number of generalized Frobenius partitions of \(n\) with \(k\) colors whose order is \(k\) under cyclic permutation of the \(k\) colors [\textit{L. W. Kolitsch}, J. Number Theory 39, No. 3, 279--284 (1991; Zbl 0734.11052)]. The authors demonstrate the wider applicability of their results by employing their main theorems to prove congruence relations for certain \(l\)-regular partition functions and also for some \(k\) dots bracelet partition functions [\textit{S. Fu}, Int. J. Number Theory 7, 133--144 (2011; Zbl 1225.11130)]. In the final section of the paper, the authors turn to the viewpoint of modular forms and use the eigenform property of some \(\eta\)-products to derive certain cases of their main theorems.
