An operator \(A\) in the algebra of all bounded linear operators on a Hilbert space \(\mathcal{H}\) is called \(G_1\) operator if \(\|(zI-A)^{-1}\|=1/\operatorname{dist}(z,\sigma(A))\) for all \(z\) not in the the spectrum \(\sigma(A)\) of \(A\), where \(I\) is the identity operator on \(\mathcal{H}\) and \(\operatorname{dist}(z,A)\) denotes the distance between \(z\) and \(\sigma(A)\). The main result of this paper states that, if \(f\) is analytic on the unit disk \(\mathbb{D}=\{z\in\mathbb{C}: |z|<1\}\) with \(\operatorname{Re}f>0\) and \(A, B\in B(\mathcal{H})\) are \(G_1\) operators and \(\sigma(A)\cup\sigma(B) \subset \mathbb{D}\), then for every \(X\in B(\mathcal{H})\) and every unitarily invariant norm \(|||\cdot|||\), the following inequality holds \[ |||f(A)X-Xf(B)||| \leq \left(\frac{2}{d_Ad_B}\operatorname{Re} (f(0))\right)|||AX-XB|||, \] where \(d_C=\operatorname{dist}( \mathbb{D},\sigma(C))\) and \(\partial\mathbb{D}\) is the boundary of \(\mathbb{D}\). For comparing \(\|f(A)X-Xf(B)\|_2\) and \(||AX-XA\|_2\) for the Hilbert-Schmidt norm and Lipschitz functions, see the author's paper [Proc. Am. Math. Soc. 94, 416--418 (1985; Zbl 0549.47006)].
