The main purpose of this short paper is to introduce a three-dimensional discontinuous Galerkin method for solving the nonlinear Poisson-Boltzmann equation. In this approach, a regularization formulation of the equation is employed to decompose the electrostatic potential into singular, harmonic, and regular components. The singular solution is given analytically by Green's functions, while the other components are governed by source-free Poisson's equations. In such a way, the Poisson boundary value problem is solved by using a continuous finite element method, while the nonlinear Poisson-Boltzmann equation is transformed into an evolutionary process using the pseudo-transient continuation method. In the final section of this paper, the authors use a benchmark test to validate the proposed discontinuous Galerkin method for solving the nonlinear Poisson-Boltzmann equation.
