The paper deals with a spectral problem in domains \(\Omega_\varepsilon\) which are obtained by perforating a plane domain \(\Omega\) along the \(x_1\)-coordinate axis by rectangular holes of size and distance proportional to \(\varepsilon>0\). The spectral problem asks for solutions \(u_\varepsilon\) of the Laplace equation, \(\Delta u_\varepsilon=0\) in \(\Omega_\varepsilon\), which satisfy homogeneous Dirichlet (resp.\ Neumann) conditions on the part of the boundary of \(\Omega\) above (resp.\ below) the \(x_1\)-axis. Homogeneous Neumann conditions are also assumed on the horizontal parts of boundaries of the holes, whereas a Steklov condition \(\partial u_\varepsilon/\partial \nu=\lambda_\varepsilon u_\varepsilon\) is imposed at the vertical parts of the holes. \textit{Y. Amirat} et al. [J. Math. Anal. Appl. 435, No. 2, 1652--1671 (2016; Zbl 1332.35235)] obtained a homogenization result which states that eigenvalue-eigenfunctions pairs \((\lambda_\varepsilon, u_\varepsilon)\) converge, as \(\varepsilon\to 0\), to corresponding pairs \((\lambda_0,u_0)\) of a limit spectral problem. In the homogenization limit, the boundary conditions at the perforations turn into jump conditions at the intersection of \(\Omega\) with the \(x_1\)-axis. The main result of the paper under review is an asymptotic formula for the eigenvalues of the form \[ \lambda_\varepsilon=\lambda_0 + \varepsilon \lambda_1 +o(\varepsilon^{3/2-\mu})\text{ as }\varepsilon\to 0, \] \(\mu>0\) arbritrarily small. A formula for the coefficient \(\lambda_1\) is given.
