Sharp polynomial energy decay for locally undamped waves (Q344600): Difference between revisions

There is an investigation on the decay rates for the energy of solutions of a damped wave equation on a smooth connected compact Riemann manifold. The results on decay rates and energy estimates published by the authors in an earlier paper: [``Energy decay for a locally undamped wave equation'', Preprint, \url{arXiv:1411.7271}] are presented. For the reformulation of one of the results in the mentioned article and considering some new assumptions, a complete proof is performed. Known results on decay rates for solutions of damped wave equations and energy estimates connected to the so called Geometric Control Condition are largely discussed.
