The authors continue their studies of the Bochner-Schoenberg-Eberlein property; see, in particular, [J. Fourier Anal. Appl. 20, 225--233 (2014; Zbl 1321.46051)] where the authors showed that the semigroup algebra \(L^1(\mathbb R^+)\) has the BSE property. The results of the paper under review concern compact totally ordered semigroups \(S\) with multiplication \(xy = \max\{x,y\}\) and the order topology. The main result is that, given a continuous, bounded, regular measure \(\mu\) on \(S\) and \(1\leq p <\infty\), the Banach algebra \(L^p(S,\mu)\), equipped with the convolution product induced by the max-multiplication, does not have the BSE property. The problem is reduced to the interval \([0,1]\) equipped with the max-multiplication and the Lebesgue measure, using a result of \textit{J. W. Baker} et al. [Mathematika 29, 42--54 (1982; Zbl 0477.46031)].
