This paper is interested in a singularly perturbed eigenvalue problem. The viscosity coefficient is considered as the singular perturbation. The tailored finite point method is considered for solution. An asymptotic analysis for the eigenpairs is performed and for a special choice of potential functions the convergence of the square of the eigenfunctions to the Dirac delta function as well as the convergence of the eigenvalue to the minimum of the potential is proven for \(\varepsilon \to 0_+\). It is shown that by two variants of the tailored finite point method the higher eigenvalues can be computed easily even on a coarse mesh, which confirms the accuracy and efficiency of the method.
