The authors investigate, in the context of infinite-dimensional holomorphy, weak versions of the famous corona theorem due to L.\,Carleson, which states that the characters given by evaluations of the open unit disk \(\mathbb D\) of the complex plane are dense in the maximal ideal space of \(H^\infty(\mathbb D)\), the Banach algebra consisting of all bounded holomorphic functions on \(\mathbb D\). The cluster value theorem, which is known to be a weak version of Carleson's corona theorem, states that, for each function \(f\in H^\infty(\mathbb D)\), the set of evaluations \(\varphi(f)\) of elements on the maximal ideal space lying in the fiber over a point \(z\in\partial\mathbb D\) coincides with the cluster set of \(f\) at \(z\). For a given Banach space \(X\), the authors study the cluster value problem for the Banach algebra \(A_u(B_E)\) of all uniformly continuous holomorphic functions on the unit ball \(B_E\) as well as for the Fréchet algebra \(H_b(X)\) of holomorphic functions of bounded type. Unfortunately, the authors have found a mistake in a key tool for the proof of one of the main results in the paper. Therefore, they have published a corrigendum, stating that the following two main results still hold. First, let \(X\) be Banach space whose dual has the bounded approximation property. Then, for each \(r >0\), there exists \(R> 0\) such that \({Cl}_r(f,z) \subset {\hat f}({\mathcal M}_{z,{rB_X}})\subset Cl_{R{B_X}} (f,z)\) for every \(f \in H_b(X)\), \(z \in X^{**}\). Secondly, let \(X\) be a Banach space. Then the following three statements are equivalent: {\parindent=8mm \begin{itemize}\item[(i)] For every \(r >0\), every \(z\in X^{**}\) and every \(f \in H_b(X)\), we have \({\hat f}({\mathcal M}_{z,{rB_X}}(H_b(X)) = {Cl}_{rB_X}(f,z)\). \item[(ii)] For every \(z\in \overline{B_{X^{**}}}\) and every \(f \in A_u(B_X)\), we have \({\hat f}({\mathcal M}_{z}(A_u(B_X)) = {Cl}(f,z)\). \item[(iii)] For every \(0< r < 1\), every \(z\in B_{ X^{**}}\) and every \(f \in H_b(X)\), we have \({\hat f}({\mathcal M}l_{z,{rB_X}}(H_b(X)) = {Cl}_{rB_X}(f,z)\). \end{itemize}} The validity of the cluster value theorem for \(A_u(B_X)\) remains open when the dual of \(X\) has the bounded approximation property. It is only known for trivial cases and for the infinite-dimensional Hilbert space.
