\textit{K. Alladi} [Trans. Am. Math. Soc. 349, No. 12, 5001--5019 (1997; Zbl 0893.11042)] considered weighted generating functions \(\sum_{\pi\in S} \omega_S(\pi) q^{|\pi|}\) on sets \(S\) of partitions \(\pi = (\lambda_1,\lambda_2,\ldots) \), where \(\omega_S(\pi)\) is a weight function on \(\pi\) and where \(|\pi| = \lambda_1+\lambda_2\cdots\). Alladi [loc. cit.] proved that, for a particular weight function \(\omega_S(\pi) = \omega_{1,2}(\pi)\), the weighted generating function for all partitions with difference between parts being at least 2, is, interestingly, equal to the unweighted generating function \(\sum q^{|\pi|}\) for partitions in general. The present author refines Alladi's weighted generating functions and proves many interesting generating function identities, including the identity (Theorem 1.3) \[ \sum_{\pi\in\mathcal{D}} q^{\mathcal{O}(\pi)} \sum_{\pi\in\mathcal{U}} q^{|\pi|}, \] where \(\mathcal{O} = \lambda_1 + \lambda_3 + \cdots\) and where \(\mathcal{U}\) and \(\mathcal{D}\) are the families of partitions and the family of partitions with distinct parts, respectively. Many of these identities involve the Dyson crank \(cr(\pi)\).
