The paper under review studies the sub-Riemannian length spectra for semisimple compact Lie groups. Here, the sub-Riemannian structure is given by the Killing form together with the orthogonal complement of a Cartan subalgebra, and the length spectrum means the set of lengths of all primitive sub-Riemannian geodesic loops. The results are given in algebraic terms, namely the root system, etc. (see Section 3 for details). The cases of \(\mathrm{SU}(2)\) and \(\mathrm{SU}(3)\) are explicited computed in Sections 4 and 5, respectively.
