The authors compute the exact solution to a steady boundary value problem which accounts for the behavior of a thin fluid layer picked up by a belt moving in the vertical direction. After some transformations, they write the momentum equation as \(\frac{d^{2}u}{dx^{2}}-\kappa ^{2}\frac{d^{4}u}{ dx^{4}}-G=0\) posed in \((0,1)\) with the boundary conditions \(u(0)=1\) and \( 0=\left.\left( \frac{d^{2}u}{dx^{2}}\right) \right\vert_{x=0}=\left.\left( \frac{du}{dx} -\kappa ^{2}\frac{d^{3}u}{dx^{3}}\right) \right\vert _{x=1}=\left.\left( \frac{d^{2}u}{ dx^{2}}\right) \right\vert _{x=1}\) and the energy equation as \(\frac{d^{2}\theta }{ dx^{2}}+\lambda ((\frac{du}{dx})^{2}+\kappa ^{2}(\frac{d^{2}u}{dx^{2}} )^{2})=0\) with the boundary conditions \(\theta (0)=0\) and \(\frac{d\theta }{dx }(1)=0\). Once the authors give the exact solution to this problem, they analyze the impact of different parameters on the velocity \(u\), on the temperature \(\theta \) and on the entropy generation. They draw figures which illustrate the main trends of these three quantities.
