The paper works with derivations of Leavitt path algebras over a commutative ring \(K\). Let \(L:=L_K(E)\) be the Leavitt path \(K\)-algebra associated to the graph \(E\). The \(K\)-module \(HH^1(L):=\hbox{Der}(L)/\hbox{InnDer(L)}\) is called the first Hochschild cohomology of \(L\). The paper explicitly describes a set of generators of \(HH^1(L)\) and relations among them. It also describes a Lie algebra of the outer derivation algebra of the Toeplitz algebra. The descriptions are always in terms of generators and relations. It is also proved that every derivation of the Leavitt path algebra \(L_{\mathbb C}(E)\) can be extended to a derivation of the algebra graph \(C^*\)-algebra \(C^*(E)\).
