Let $k$ be an algebraically closed field of characteristic $p>0$. The paper under review address the liftability of Calabi-Yau variety over $k$ to characteristic zero. \par The Artin-Mazur height $\mathrm{ht}(X)$ of a Calabi-Yau variety over $k$, is used to give the sufficient conditions for the liftability. It is known that $\mathrm{ht}(X)$ takes a value in positive finite integers, or infinity, and that known examples of non-liftable Calabi-Yau varieties have infinite Artin-Mazur height. \par This paper presents a partial answer to the question of liftability of Calabi-Yau varieties with finite Artin-Mazur height. \par Theorem. Let $X$ be a Calabi-Yau variety defind over an algebraically closed field $k$ of characteristic $p>0$. Assume that the Artin-Mazur height of $X$ is finite. Then $X$ admits a smooth lifting to the ring $W_2(k)$ of Witt vectors of length two over $k$. \par Corollary: If $\dim(X)\leq p$, the Hodge to de Rham spectral sequence of $X$ degenerates at $E_1$. \par The main ingredient in the proof is to introduce a new invariant $\mathrm{ht}^s(X)$ (the Frobenius-split height) of a scheme $X$. A scheme $X$ is called \textit{quasi-Frobenius-split} when $\mathrm{ht}^s(X)$ is finite. Then it is proved that any smooth quasi-Frobenius-split scheme admits a lifting to $W_2(k)$. For a Calabi-Yau variety, the Artin-Mazur height coincides with the Frobenius-split height.
