The paper under review deals with the convergence of sequences of a mixed-type Hermite-Padé approximation. As the authors indicate, the Hermite-Padé approximation was introduced by \textit{Ch. Hermite} [C. R. Acad. Sci., Paris 77, 18--24 (1873; JFM 05.0248.01)] for proving the transcendence of the number \(e\). Later it has been used in other number theory related problems (see the survey by \textit{W. Van Assche} [Contemp. Math. 236, 325--342 (1999; Zbl 0952.42014)], cited in the paper), which have received increasing attention in recent years because of their applicability in other areas such as the theory of non-intersecting brownian motions [\textit{E. Daems} and \textit{A. B. J. Kuijlaars}, J. Approx. Theory 146, No. 1, 91--114 (2007; Zbl 1135.42324)], the study of multiple orthogonal polynomial ensembles [\textit{A. B. J. Kuijlaars}, Contemp. Math. 507, 155--176 (2010; Zbl 1218.60005)], random matrix theory [\textit{P. M. Bleher} and \textit{A. B. J. Kuijlaars}, Int. Math. Res. Not. 2004, No. 3, 109--129 (2004; Zbl 1082.15035); \textit{A. B. J. Kuijlaars}, in: Proceedings of the international congress of mathematicians (ICM 2010), Hyderabad, India, August 19--27, 2010. Vol. III: Invited lectures. Hackensack, NJ: World Scientific; New Delhi: Hindustan Book Agency. 1417--1432 (2011; Zbl 1230.42034)], and in the solution of the Degasperis-Procesi (DP) differential equation. The present paper is motivated by an approximation problem relevant to the solution of the DP equation.
