This paper study an optimal control problem for a stationary convection-diffusion-reaction equation. The particularity of this problem is the presence of a non-linear mass transfer coefficient \(\alpha\) in the boundary condition on \(\Gamma_N \subset \partial \Omega\). In the first part of the paper, the authors show, if some regularity conditions are satisfied, then the problem 1: \[ - \lambda \Delta \varphi + \boldsymbol{u} \cdot \nabla \varphi + k \varphi = f \quad \text{in } \Omega \\ \varphi = 0 \quad \text{on } \Gamma_D, \qquad \lambda (\partial \varphi / \partial n + \alpha \varphi) = \chi \quad \text{on } \Gamma_N \] has a weak solution. The second section is dedicated to the formulation of an optimal control problem concerning the above problem 1. Under the same regularity assumptions the authors prove that the optimal control problem is well posed. Moreover, some stability estimates are proved.
