Let \(G\) be a simple and simply-connected algebraic group over an algebraically closed field \(k\) (char \(\mathfrak k\) good) and let \(\mathfrak g\) be its Lie algebra. \textit{I. Dolgachev} and \textit{N. Goldstein} [J. Pure Appl. Algebra 32, 33--47 (1984; Zbl 0545.22014)] introduced a diagram \(\Gamma_N\) for the Springer fiber \(\mathcal B_N\) of a nilpotent element \(N\) contained in a minimal nilpotent orbit of \(\mathfrak g\). The author extends that association and describes all the diagrams \(\Gamma_N\) for nilpotent elements \(N\) of minimal and minimal special orbits. That expansion of the context was inspired by a conjecture of Humphreys demonstrated in this article. In fact, the author proves that \(\Gamma_N\), for \(N\) in a minimal special orbit, is isomorphic to the graph corresponding to a subregular nilpotent element in the Lie algebra of the Langlands dual of \(G\). In this paper the action of the component group of the stabilizer of \(N\) in \(G\) on \(\Gamma_N\) is studied. The author proves that the quotient of \(\Gamma_N\) by the action of the component group of the stabilizer of \(N\) in \(G\) is isomorphic to that corresponding to the Lusztig-Spaltenstein dual of the orbit for \(N\) contained in a special nilpotent orbit. He also establishes an isomorphism between elements in a minimal special nilpotent orbits of Lie \(\mathrm{SO}(2n+1,\mathfrak k)\) and Lie \(\mathrm{Sp}(2n, \mathfrak k)\) related by an order-preserving bijection.
