Some results on the complete monotonicity of Mittag-Leffler functions of le Roy type (Q2173479): Difference between revisions

The authors consider the problem of the complete monotonicity of the Mittag-Leffler functions of Le Roy type. This special function has been recently introduced in the literature independently by different authors and is an interesting object of research for the applications in weighted Poisson distributions and for the connections with fractional differential equations with variable coefficients. A key role in the analysis of these functions is played by the rigorous conditions for the complete monotonicity. In this paper, the authors study this problem starting from the approach developed by Pollard in a seminal paper about the complete monotonicity of the one parameter Mittag-Leffler function. The authors prove that these functions are completly monotonic under particular assumptions on the parameters that are also numerically tested. This paper is really interesting because these modified Le Roy functions occur in the applications and the problem of complete monotonicity is not trivial in this case.
