Summary: In this paper, we study a preprojective algebra for quivers decorated with \(k\)-algebras and bimodules, which generalizes work of \textit{P. Gabriel} [Manuscr. Math. 6, 71--103 (1972; Zbl 0232.08001)] for ordinary quivers, work of \textit{V. Dlab} and \textit{C. M. Ringel} [J. Algebra 33, 306--394 (1975; Zbl 0332.16014)] for \(k\)-species, and recent work of \textit{L. de Thanhoffer de Volcsey} and \textit{D. Presotto} [J. Algebra 470, 450--483 (2017; Zbl 1405.16027)], which has recently appeared from a different perspective in work of \textit{J. Külshammer} [Algebr. Represent. Theory 20, No. 5, 1215--1238 (2017; Zbl 1376.16013)]. As for undecorated quivers, we show that its moduli space of representations recovers the Hamiltonian reduction of the cotangent bundle over the space of representations of the decorated quiver. These algebras yield degenerations of ordinary preprojective algebras, by folding the quiver and then degenerating the decorations. We prove that these degenerations are flat in the Dynkin case, and conjecture, based on computer results, that this extends to arbitrary decorated quivers.
