Let \(f:\mathbb{R}^2\to \mathbb{R}\) be a continuous function and let \(K_1\) and \(K_2\) be self-similar sets on \(\mathbb{R}\). The authors address the question of what the exact form of the continuous image of such sets under \(f\) is. Specifically, they show that for two Moran sets \(E_1\) and \(E_2\), the image \(f(E_1,E_2)\) is either a closed interval or the finite union of closed intervals provided the first order partial derivatives of \(f\) satisfy certain conditions.
