The author studies generalisations of the classical injective property of modules. For example, let \(M\) be a pure injective \(R\)-module. The pure-subinjectivity domain of \(M\) is the set of all modules \(N\) such that for all pure extensions \(K\) of \(N\), every \(f\in\mathrm{Hom}(N,M)\) extends to Hom\((K,M)\). \(M\) is indigent pure injective if its sub-injectivity domain is the smallest possible, that is the class of absolutely pure modules. The author studies properties of the pure injectvity domain of pure injective modules and of indigent pure injective modules. He describes the rings over which every simple, uniform or indecomposable pure injective module is indigent pure injective.
