In this paper, nonlinear oscillations of a heated circular plate subjected to dynamic loading are studied. The response of a moderately thick circular plate at elevated temperatures subjected to harmonic loading is analysed. A mathematical model of the plate is derived applying the geometrical nonlinear Reisner-Mindlin plate theory. A reduced model of the plate motion is created and the harmonic balance method is applied to the reduced model taking into account the first vibration mode. Numerical simulations are performed for the plate subjected to uniformly distributed harmonic loading and different temperatures. The model represented by a set of partial differential equations is reduced to a one-degree-of-freedom system by the Galerkin orthogonalization method based on the first vibration mode. The reduced nonlinear model is studied by two different methods, by approximate analytical harmonic balance method and by direct simulation of the original ODE. It is demonstrated that the analytical approach gives very accurate solutions with great agreement with numerical simulations. However, the term `great agreement' is a relative term and it needs to be mathematically defined. For the entire collection see [Zbl 1477.93110].
