The authors study the Navier-Stokes-Fourier system in \(\mathbb{R}^3\). The system describes the flow of a compressible viscous heat-conducting gas. The gas is perfect: the pressure \(P=\rho T\) is linear with respect to both the density \(\rho\) and the temperature \(T\), and the energy \(E=T+\frac12 u^2\). The authors aim at investigating the long-time behavior and global stability of solutions. The global regularity is proved together with some estimates, and convergence to equilibrium (and rate of this convergence) is established. The initial data need not be small in any sense.
