Morita algebras were introduced to better understand and generalize self-injective algebras. Morita algebras occur in several contexts, including cover theory and the Morita-Tachikawa correspondence. A cover, in Rouquier's sense, of an algebra \(B\) is a pair \((A, P)\) consisting of the endomorphism algebra \(A\) of a generator over \(B\) and a certain projective \(A \)-module \(P\). By definition, Morita algebras are exactly the covers of self-injective algebras. The main result gives several characterisations of Morita algebras with fewer assumptions than the theorem by Morita that motivated the definition of Morita algebras. As application, the author gives a criterion for a QF-1 algebra to be a self-injective algebra.
