A Cayley graph \(X=\text{Cay}(G,S)\) for a group \(G\) is called normal if the right regular representation of \(G\) is a normal subgroup of \(\text{Aut}(X)\). The study of the normality of Cayley graphs is important for symmetric graphs and half-transitive graphs. All non-normal connected Cayley graphs of finite abelian groups with valency 3, 4, or 5 are classified in \textit{Y.-G. Baik} et al. [Algebra Colloq. 5, No. 3, 297-304 (1998; Zbl 0904.05037)] and \textit{Y.-G. Baik} et al. [Syst. Sci. Math. Sci. 13, No. 4, 425-431 (2000; Zbl 0973.05038)]. The main result of the paper under review is that every 4-valent connected Cayley graph of a \(p\)-group \(G\) (\(p\) odd prime) of nilpotent class 2 is normal. Also it is shown by an example that if \(G\) has nilpotent class 3 then the result is not true.
