The author defines the notion of a fuzzy nearness structure on a set \(X\) and uses it to generate a fuzzy closure operator (and hence also a fuzzy topology) on this set. Besides, starting from fuzzy nearness structures, the author introduces (non-conventional) concepts of a fuzzy proximity and of a fuzzy uniformity (cf. e.g. \textit{A. Katsaras}, An. Ştiinţ. Univ. Al. I. Cuza Iaşi, N. Ser., Secţ. Ia 26, 31- 41 (1980; Zbl 0443.54007)], \textit{B. Hutton} [J. Math. Anal. Appl. 58, 559-571 (1977; Zbl 0358.54008)]), and a concept of a fuzzy contiguity.
